Visiting ethnic minorities in the Lao mountains

Around the Muang La Resort, there are many ethnic minorities living in the mountains: Hakka, Hmong, Ikko, Miao, etc. We went to visit two Ikko villages in the middle of nowhere. At the top of a mountain, their villages have no access to electricity and tap water. Most of the people we have seen are sick because of the lack of hygiene, medicines and access to hospitals. Almost no tourist pass by as it is not a famous eco-touristic place yet. We tried to help a little bit by giving them some soap, food, school stuff, etc. but it was nothing compared to their needs. It seems like everybody has forgotten them, they even don't speak lao.
