Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

What's up?

During the last few weeks i was staying in Bangkok with my friends. I also went to visit Chiang Mai in he north and i went again to Hua Hin on the sea shore. I had a lot of fun there. Fun? Maybe not fun, actually i just feel good in Thailand, like at home. I still look like a tourist, but i think i behave more and more like Thai people (i try so...). This makes my stay go smooth. I know Bangkok by heart (kidding, i get lost 200m from my flat) but i still have many things to see in the rest of Thailand, especially the south and my stay in Chiang Mai was too short to say "i know Chiang Mai". Last sunday we had a farewell party for my leaving in the restaurant called Sirroco, at the 64th floor of a building. Actually we just had a drink there because of the high prices, but the view by night was wonderful! Monday i left to Taipei, very sad of leaving Thailand. Besides i realized that i wouldn't be back before at least one year! In my mind, it seemed normal to come back every 4 or 5 months...
In Taipei, i booked a room in the youth hostel close to Taipei Main Station. I shared my room with a nice Irish guy who was in transit to Hong Kong after spending 2 months in Japan as a tourist. For dinner, after trying to talk to a restaurant waiter wether he had fried rice or not, i decided to eat at Burger King where the welcoming was warmer... Tuesday i took the plane to Seoul, watching a french movie (M.Ibrahim et les fleurs du Coran) during the flight.
After visiting a few Asian countries, it is the first time i am totally ignorant of the country where i am going to. Of course i know Samsung and Hyundai, the Korean football team, the taekwondo, but i am not familiar at all with their customs and values. I know that my friend Hyemin would take care of me, and actually she does. She came with a friend to the airport to pick me up, and since yesterday we go everywhere together. Every thing is new to me, people, food, habits... It's good to face another cultural shock, even for one week only. Besides i am rediscovering what winter is, actually it is 2 degrees here, 30 less than in Bangkok! But i enjoy my time and still have many things to see.

Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

For us it's a sport and hobby, for the fighters it's a way to make money for their family, up to 2000 euros for a victory of a big match. Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

In the streets of Bangkok, a few minutes before the final countdown. Streets were crowded and people from everywhere were trying to find the best place to watch the fireworks. The countdown was said in Thai and the fireworks only lasted a few seconds but we understood when we passed into 2006. Posted by Picasa

The night of the new year's eve, out of the restaurant there was an art-deco expo. Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

Inside the Central World Plaza there is a new center dedicated to motivate juniors to read books, but it's nearly empty and nobody knows about this location. Posted by Picasa

Close to Central World Plaza, Chitlom, a few days before the New Year's eve. Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa

Other main street of Bangkok, Sukhumvit Posted by Picasa

A gloomy street close to Sukhumvit, by night it becomes a gogo place, by day the girls are eating outside like other workers. Posted by Picasa

Posted by Picasa
